Kazakhstan invites China for Beyneu Akbulak gas pipeline

Kazakhstan Today cited Mr Umirzak Shukeev deputy PM of Kazakhstan as saying that Kazakhstan has invited China to participate in construction of gas pipeline Beyneu Akbulak. He said that "The Ministry for Energy suggested the Peoples Republic of China to participate in this project."

He said that "The decision to finance the project 50/50 has been accepted. In any case, 50 % will be financed due to managing subjects, probably, KazMunayGas or another investor, and these 50 % will be returned due to the tariff."

The 1510 kilometer long gas pipeline will have diameters ranging between 711 mm and 1016 mm at different locations.

The first stage is planned to be finished till July 2011 that will allow transporting 5 billion cubic meters of gas to the south of Kazakhstan. The second stage of gas pipeline will be introduced in 2014 that will allow expanding of its capacity up to 10 billion cubic meters.
